This guy is seriously stoked!
How did you start/get involved with this non-profit?
This project is dedicated to my son Ryan Dalton diagnosed with Autism at 16 months of age. He rides his CRF50 at the local MX track in So Cal with his brother and father.
What is the mission of the organization?
Our mission statement is simple; to bring awareness to Autism within/via the motocross community.
In a nutshell The Autism MX Project focuses on three areas:
Autism MX Day Camps are the heart and soul of the project and this is where we started. Day Camp is where we work with kids on the Autism Spectrum and give them a chance to ride little dirt bikes and quads. It’s a stress-free fun day for families to experience MX first hand. Autism can overwhelm a family; we do what we can to help out and have a great time!
Local racers are getting the word out! Covered in Puzzle Pieces and Racing for a Reason!
Supercross and Motocross races typically have 40-50 thousand spectators, plus the races are broadcasted on NBC or CBS sports. This year The Speed Channel and Fuel TV are broadcasting all 16 racers, while CBS will broadcast select races.
That kind of media coverage is priceless.
It is estimated that 22.5 million people will watch X-Games coverage this year. If we only had an athlete in the X-Games…. Well we are working on that as we speak.
We bring awareness to Autism every time we race one of our Autism MX bikes or wear an Autism MX t-shirt. Our Autism MX graphic kits are bright, loud Puzzle Piece attention getters. Every single time we are at the track someone asks about the bikes. If they have never heard the word “Autism” they have now.
What kinds of activities do you do?
Day Camps, Local races and AMA Pros races
How can people support the organization or get involved with ?
