When going out into the world for a day hike or bike ride, one thing you can’t forget is something to keep you hydrated. Since we’re not professional football, basketball or soccer players, that “something” tends to be water. Today we’re reviewing the CamelBak M.U.L.E. 2012 edition.

The first thing you need to realize is that CamelBak stands behind every product, 100%. CamelBak will repair or replace at its discretion any manufacturing defect in their products free of charge. Of course the warranty doesn’t cover wear and tear or abuse, but it’s still a great warranty policy. So, when buying any of their products, you can do so with confidence.

The M.U.L.E. is a great Hydration Bag for riders and hikers/walkers alike. It holds a massive 3L of water, but the placement and design of the straps keep you from getting shoulder, neck or back fatigue even hours into your workout. Between the sliding SternumStrap and the Dynamic Suspension, you can be sure you’ll easily find a great custom fit. The ventilated back panel (Air Director) combined with the Air Mesh shoulder harness should help to alleviate excessive back sweat.

As with all their current hydration packs, the 2012 M.U.L.E. features CamelBak’s patented Big Bite and HydroLock valves. These valves work in tandem to ensure you can easily get water when you want it, while ensuring you don’t spill any when you don’t. Included in the pack are 3 zippered compartments to keep your gear organized and secure. The top zippered compartment serves as a fleece-lined home for your phone or mp3 player while allowing headphones to stay connected. A few extras such as compression straps for overflow storage and reflective stitching are just icing on the cake.

The Nixon Supertide is one of Nixon’s best tide watches for the money. You’ve probably seen them around since almost every pro surfer out there has a watch sponsor. We decided to do a quick product review on the Nixon Supertide Watch for you today.

Let’s start off with the marquee feature first, the tide indicator. It features built-in tide tables for over 230 beaches world-wide. If you’re someplace that isn’t in the database, you can easily set the tide based on the time of the next high tide. In addition to the tide, you can see the sunrise/sunset data and the tides in the future up to 48 hours. For those that are into competing the Supertide features a heat timer to keep you in tune with what’s happening on the beach.

Nixon watches are made to stand-up to the elements and punishment of the ocean environment. The watch itself is constructed with a combination of polycarbonate and silicone for the housing, stainless steel for the bezel and hardened mineral crystal for the face. The buttons are integrated into the housing to prevent moisture from getting inside. All of these construction features add up to 100 meters of water resistance for all your ocean pursuits. The band is constructed out of custom injected silicone with a custom molded stainless steel buckle and a locking looper for security.

Since we’re still in the “thick” of wetsuit season, we decided to review a solid, hooded wetsuit. This is the men’s Hyperflex AMP3 Hooded Wetsuit. They offer different thicknesses and zipper options, but today it’s the 5/4/3mm Chest Zip version.

When looking at wetsuits the most important factor is fit. You could wear a very loose wetsuit that’s 6mm and still be colder than you would in a good-fitting 3/2mm. This is because the entire point of normal wetsuits is to allow a thin layer of water to surround your body and be warmed by your bodyheat. The second important factor is the wetsuit’s thickness. The general rule of thumb is 64-55F = 3/2mm, 55-48F = 4/3mm, 48-40F = 5/4/3mm,
